Hotmatter2001: Meeting on Phase transitions in hot matter

Helsinki, Thu 5 - Sun 8 April 2001

General: This meeting of the EU network Finite Temperature Phase Transitions in Particle Physics, shortened as Phase Transitions in Hot Matter, will discuss what new there is happening in the study of hot and dense QCD, Electroweak and Beyond-the-Standard Model matter, both in and out of equilibrium.

Venue: The meeting will take place in the new building of the Physics Department; for the location see map. We are taking a conscious risk in that the removal to the new building is to take place in early March, but we wish to be pioneers also in this way. The removal has now (8 March) been accomplished.

Accommodation: We have booked rooms at Hotel Anton, Paasivuorenkatu 1, 00530 HELSINKI, Tel. +358 9 774 900, Fax +358 9 701 4527. On the map linked above, Anton is under the letter 't' of the word 'Siltasaari' a bit northwest of the (old) Physics Dept (marked with an arrow). To get to Anton from the Helsinki airport you can take a taxi (150 FIM), a yellow Airport taxi (70 FIM) or a regular bus 615 (16 FIM) to Hakaniementori (a big market square, after approx. 30mins driving time; the hotel is just 50m from the stop).

How to get to the Physics Department in Kumpula: Take the tram number 6 outside Anton towards Arabia (!), get off after 10 minutes at the stop Kyläsaarenkatu (2nd last stop just after a turn right from the main street). You should see the Physics Department with platforms on top on a wooded hill; walk the last bit. Also the buses 55, 55A, 70, 73, 75, 77 are a good alternative: the departure stop is a little further; the stop to get off at ("Kemian laitokset") after 8 minutes is a little nearer.
A single trip, which you can pay to the driver, costs FIM 10. Tickets for 10 trips, to be bought in advance, cost FIM 75.

Helsinki Info: Check out the searchable map, an info brochure (PDF) or more general info on Helsinki.

Registration: Please fill in the registration form. Here is a list of registered participants.

Program: We expect that the participants arrive on Thu and depart on Sun so that the program will cover two full (we mean FULL) days Fri-Sat. Check the list of Titles and Abstracts to see if your submission was successful.

Organising Committee:
Keijo Kajantie (Helsinki), F. Karsch (Bielefeld) and York Schröder (Helsinki).
